Survey musings, 7-12th July 2008

The first week of survey of the second session was fairly standard. Karen has kept a tight ship in my absence, so not much needed to be corrected from the end of session 1. Many skeletons were excavated this week, requiring many points. I think we are up to around 50 or 60 now for 2008. The grid in BII seems to finally be correct, which will remove a lot of general survey/station annoyance. The destruction layer in D is also surveyed/printed, so planning is underway.

The main discussion has been whether the walls in G3 are aligned with the granaio and the walls excavated in G2. I was thinking probably not, but after surveying in the alignments it appears that Dirk was (regrettably) correct and the walls do share an alignment. Apparently we are all rubbish at checking the alignment with tapes, as we were mostly certain they were disparate. So Stacey the Total Station comes in handy after all.
