Area BII weekly summary, 7-12th July 2008

In the cloister area last bit of 4136 was removed and Mr. Chips (4145) was attacked with a sieve. Slow progress was made, but an impressive amount of worked marble and ceramic was pulled out, along with lots of metal bits the material finds point to a 14th century occupancy layer. We further extended to the west by 4.5 meters in order to see if we might run into a corridor area similar to that formed by [4053] and [4005]. Mr. Pebble-y, 4154 was removed and the whole area thoroughly cleaned in order to sort the limits and story of the pavements. Though it would seem simple enough, it is not clear if 4154 was cut by or covered the skeletons buried in this are. An effort to plan 4017 in all its intrusion-free glory was thwarted by wonky grid points. uffa.
